SEW ‘N’ TELL, MoMA PS1 & LITTLE MANILA, QUEENS, NYC
Sew ‘n’ Tell was a 90-minute sewing circle-style workshop where participants gave their previously loved clothes new life through embroidery. Participants shared stories about textile traditions, learned three simple embroidery techniques. and stitched a design onto their chosen garment. Participants chose a design from a Queens-inspired “flash sheet,” or designed their own. 90 minutes. Co-facilitated by Abby Manwiller and Cecilia Lim.

The second iteration of Sew ‘n’ Tell, held on June 2024 in the public streets of Little Manila, Queens, extended the project’s reach beyond institutional walls. Situated within a vibrant community arts event, it featured a clothing swap, public art exhibit, visible mending stations, and balikbayan box workshops—engaging audiences in both aesthetic experience and environmental inquiry.
